Sitting inside the helicopter, HMAS Kanimbla
Description
Figure of a man seated inside a helicopter. The sailor depicted sitting inside the helicopter is Able Seaman Aviation Technician Airframes (ABATA) Avionics (ABATV) Kurt Horsten, 817th Squadron. Peter Churcher recalled, "The helicopter was often inside the hangar requiring maintenance from the "Birdies" [colloquial expression for the naval aviation crew]. This image is capturing one of the "Birdies" waiting inside the cabin until his particular services are required".
