Ruin Ridge, 2627 July 1942
On the night of the 2627 July 1942, the 2/28th Battalion lost 65 men dead and 490 captured, in an attack on a place called Ruin Ridge, in Egypt. The attack on Ruin Ridge was to be the final attempt to break through the Axis position at Alamein.
