My Grandfather served through the 1sr World War in the Royal Horse Artillery, and was gassed, his lungs never did recover. It was a chargeable offence not to put on the horse's gas mask before your own. Horses were in shorter supply than men! In retrospect the war was a fight between direct cousins, the German Kaiser and our own King. A family feud which wiped out a generation of men on both sides.
