So few children today, and probably adults too, are aware of the great mounted infantry charge at Beersheba. Neither do they know the story of the Kalkadoons' heroic stand at Battle Mountain, in north west Queensland, where, in Sept 1884, they fought against the only European style cavalry charge in Australia's history. Between 500-900 people were killed.

These events are an important part of Australia's history and need to be more widely told. Thanks for your website and the opportunity to comment.

Kind Regards,
Alan

I wonder if someone might be able to give me an exact or reasonably close figure of the total number of Turkish troops captured by Australian troops during WW1?

Kind regards
