Hi Leigh and Janelle, I am glad you found it interesting. From what I have read, many of the prisoners who used this technique actually learnt it at school; to create flyers, programmes for plays, or school newsletters etc. They later used their knowledge in captivity to make the maps, or taught others how to do it.

Cheers Di

Hi Di,

I found this very interesting to see. It is something I had never heard about until I read it. I'm thinking of doing it with my Year 9ers as part of a hands on activity to get them interested in POWs and their life in camps. Love your explanation and method of how it was done!

Thanks a lot!

Hi Di,
I remember when we first got the maps as part of Jack Millet's collections - I was amazed at the detail in the maps, so I was really interested to see if you could replicate the process.

Thanks for putting this together - could be an interesting school holiday activity for the kids.

cheers
