Description

The interior of the main Department of Aircraft Production (Beaufort Division) Factory showing DAP Beaufort bombers during manufacture. The DAP factory was located next door to the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) at Fishermans Bend, Melbourne, and was rebranded as the Government Aircraft Factory (GAF) at the end of the war. The airframe A9-277, pictured, served with 32, 7 and 100 Squadrons, and was damaged beyond repair on 9 July 1944. A RAAF De Havilland Tiger Moth, serial number A17-143 is visible in the left foreground.
