Sergeant (Sgt) William Henderson Swanston, a photographer on loan from the RAF, holding a 12 inch by 12 inch glass plate field camera on his head. This camera was used by Lieutenant (Lt) William Hopkins James MC, of the 1st Light Horse Regiment and Sgt Swanston to take photographs that were registered in the Australian War Memorial's Photographs Collection's Australian War Records Section series (AWRS). Lt James' team was at Gallipoli at the same time as the Historical Mission to Gallipoli lead by Captain C E W Bean during the months of February and March 1919.
