Men of the 1st Battalion burying the dead in the right hand end of the Lone Pine trenches, which the 1st Brigade captured on 6 August 1915. In this trench Lieutenant Frederick Harold Tubb, 2130 Corporal William Dunstan and 384 Corporal Alexander Stewart Burton, 7th Battalion, later won the VC while repulsing a Turkish counterattack.
