Description

Abbeville, France. 31 May 1918. Members of Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps (QMAAC), marching from No. 2 Stationary Hospital at 1.45p.m. in the funeral procession of their comrades, who were killed in the enemy air raid, on the night of 29-30 May 1918. Bombs were dropped on Camp 1, one bomb fell into a protection trench, killing eight members, while one died of wounds shortly after, and seven others were slightly wounded. No. 2 Army Supply Depot workers killed were 31503 M. M. L. Blaikley, general domestic; 31673 B. V. Campbell, general domestic; 34767 C. Connor, general domestic; 31918 J. McK. Grant, postal clerk; 15695 A. Moores, cook; 35588 A. Thomasson, general domestic; 9048 E. F. Parker, waitress, Officers Club, EFC; 15703 M. S. Caswell, waitress, Officers Club, EFC. 34864 J. Watson, general domestic, died of wounds.
