Description

Waddington, Lincolnshire, England circa August 1944. Leading Aircraftsman (LAC) North, instrument repairer, in the cockpit of Lancaster of No. 463 Sqn RAAF. Ground crew refuelling aircraft. Nose art featuring ballot paper insignia "Vote for Joe". Corporal (Cpl) Lyle Hale and LAC Wann working on main plane. LAC Wann watching engine start up. Lancaster "S' for Sugar refuelling. "S" for Sugar bomb trolley in foreground. "S" for Sugar reving up. Testing gun turret. Placing releases on bombs. WAAF tractor driver bringing up bombs. Bombing up "X" for Extra; bombing crew are Corporal Lyle Hale, Flight Sergeant Ron Hancock, Sgt MacInnes and others unidentified. Bombing up. Refuelling "S" for Sugar. Cleaning perspex nose.
