2/410259 Lance Corporal (LCpl) Bill Yost, of Launceston, Tas (right), 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), uses a dirt map to discuss the route taken by Communist terrorist forces with Jawa (left), an Iban tribesman from the Dyak Territories in British Borneo. Jawa is one of a group from his clan with special jungle skills who are attached to 2RAR and track Communist terrorists in the jungle of Southern Kedah. LCpl Yost is armed with an Owen gun and Jawa is armed with a Number 5, Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE), jungle carbine. In the background is a Daimler Ferret armoured car. LCpl Yost also served in Korea with the Australian Ancillary Unit from 1952-1953.
