Description

Korea. c. 1952. For protection members of the raiding party wear armoured vests. Although hot to wear on summer patrols, the vests are made from nylon and laminated plastic and have proved effective in stopping a large percentage of shrapnel and grenade splinters. The vests have also lessened the severity of small arms wounds. Pictured, left to right: Private D. M. (Jock) Walker of Guildford, NSW; 2400615 Lance Corporal G. C. (Toby) Ralston of Maitland, NSW; Private N. A. (Bluey) Bonell of Spring Hill, Qld, and Private Cecil Raymond-Blanch of Newcastle, NSW.
