View of the front entrance to the radar shack with receiver, operated by 56 Radar Unit, RAAF on Grassy Hill, Cooktown from early 1942 to February 1945. The receiver and transmitter were housed in separate buildings adjacent to a lighthouse; the shack shown is surrounded by an imitation lighthouse keeper's cottage for camouflage purposes.
