- Members of the multinational Peace Monitoring Group (PMG) boarding Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Hercules transport aircraft, serial number A97-178. The PMG were departing for peackeeping duties in Bougainville. Identified is Corporal (Cpl) Shawn Lewis (far left), 145 Signal Squadron, Royal Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) who later died at Loloho, Bougainville in an accidental drowning.
