M16A1 Anti Personnel Mine
Description
The M16 is a cylindrical, steel bodied, bounding antipersonnel fragmentation mine. The mine resembles a large tin can and has a crimped upper edge and a threaded fuze cavity. A tubular pronged fuze is screwed into the the cavity. The mine is painted olive drab. Markings - EMPTY.
History / Summary
The M16 bounding fragmentation mine was one of the mines employed by United States and Australian forces during the Vietnam conflict. It has been widely copied and used by many other countries.
