Mother and Widow's Badge : Mrs Mary Stone
Description
Circular silver Mothers and Widows Badge with gold safety chain and pin. The obverse shows a raised image of a woman and part of a laurel wreath with the words 'FOR AUSTRALIA' in raised letters. The reverse has a hinged securing pin and text which reads 'ISSUED BY THE C'WLTH GOVT' 'A23884' and 'AMOR SYDNEY'. Suspended by two securing rings is a flat rectangular bar with a single brass star in the centre.
History / Summary
Mother and Widow's badge issued to Mary Stone of Bathurst, NSW, the mother of NX56099 Corporal Ronald Charles Stone. Stone was born in 1918 in Bathurst and enlisted in Paddington, NSW, on 3 July 1940. He served in Malaya with 2/19 Battalion and was killed in action on 9 February 1942.
