Description
Khaki woollen badge embroidered in white and black thread with the symbol of the Australian Wireless Squadron. The symbol takes the form of a pair of white wings with a lightening bolt through the centre.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of 17539 Sapper Murray Parkes, a printer's traveller from Sydney, NSW. Parkes enlisted on 6 December 1916 and served in Mesopotamia with 1 Australian Cavalry Divisional Signal Squadron and from 23 May 1918 with 1 Australian Wireless Squadron. He embarked for return to Australia on 22 July 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 5 October 1919.
