Mauser Kar 98k Rifle : North Vietnamese Forces
Description
Mauser Kar 98k bolt action rifle. Originally a blued and polished machined steel action with a turned down bolt arm. Full laminated wood stock that has a steel packing disc in the butt and pressed steel butt plate. The breech ring is stamped 'byf' and '44' with Third Reich proof marks and 'Mod 98' on the left side. The butt is stamped with the rifle serial number and the butt plate '44 gqm'.

This weapon was captured at the Battle of Long Tan on the 18th of August 1966 by 6 Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment.
