| Description | Group portrait of five soldiers of the 5th Battalion. Identified in the back row, centre, is 2736 Private (later Lance Corporal (L Cpl) John David Jackson, a bricklayer from London, England. L Cpl Jackson was recommended for the Military Medal, and the Medal for Bravery and Loyalty 3rd Class. He was awarded the Romanian Medaille Barbatie si Credinta (Manhood and Loyalty medal), 3rd Class in September 1919. He returned to Australia in March 1919. From the Thuillier collection of glass plate negatives. Taken by Louis and Antoinette Thuillier in Vignacourt, France during the period 1916 to 1918. |
