| Description | Group portrait of 5th Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery (5th ALTMB) football team. The officer on the right is probably Captain Victor Esmond Douglas Crisp, officer commanding the 5th ALTMB. The Battery, as part of the 5th Brigade were situated in Vignacourt from 8th October - 22nd November 1918. The unit diary records that the football team played three times during November, going down 3/6 in their first match against the 18th Battalion, winning their next match 9/0 against the 20th Battalion and loosing their last against the 17th Battalion, 3/6. From the Thuillier collection of glass plate negatives. Taken by Louis and Antoinette Thuillier in Vignacourt, France during the period 1916 to 1918. |
