Art in war

Part of the dome inside the Hall of Memory, Australian War Memorial.
For students in Years 3-6
Objectives:
Students will discover how the Memorial’s art collection, within the context of Australian art history, can contribute to our understanding of the experience of war.
The program:
An art adventure which allows students to explore the Memorial’s rich collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and photography. Discover the many ways an artist can tell a story.
Investigate the key themes of commemoration, loss, remembrance, story, record, identity, symbols, shapes, colour and texture.
Learn how to see, hear and feel what a painting can tell you.
This program will explore the work of many artists, including official war artists.
