Education programs
The most valuable learning experience for both teachers and students is to participate in one of the Memorial's facilitated programs. The goal of all our education programs is to assist students to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society.
Programs draw on real objects and fascinating stories, using hands-on items and interactive discussion to engage students. All programs are linked to national curriculum profiles for History, English, Visual Arts, Science and Technology.
- A minimum charge applies for all education programs.
Accompanying adults are free of charge.
- There are maximum group sizes for each program. Larger groups will need more time. For instance, if you have 100 students, and you want them to do The ANZAC legend or First World War, you will need to allow 2 hours for your visit.
- Please note the AWM does not open until 10am. Any education programs booked before opening hours have a strict maximum of 60. Student groups over 60, or part thereof, will not be admitted until 10am.
- On arrival in the Education Space, your students will be divided into groups
of up to 15, with an accompanying adult, for their facilitated program. For
the Vietnam era: war and conscription program group size is a maximum of 30
students, with accompanying adults.
- Important: Please notify the bookings officer if the size of your
group changes. If the number of students you bring exceeds the number specified
in your booking, we cannot guarantee delivery of a program to all students.
- Programs can be booked to commence from 9.00 am.
- Please ensure your students arrive 15 minutes before their program
is due to commence.
- Prices are correct for 2008-2010.
- Facilitated programs are only available
Monday to Friday.
- Please note that some programs have limited availability.
