School visits
- Bookings are essential for all school groups visiting the Memorial;
- Entrance is free;
- Opening hours;
- All students are given an orientation to the Memorial on arrival in the Education Space.
Education programs
The most valuable learning experience for both teachers and students is to participate in one of the Memorial's education programs. Programs draw on real objects and fascinating stories, using hands-on items and interactive discussion to engage students.
Excursion options
Your visit to he Memorial can be rich and exciting. We provide a full range or free and paid experiences to cater for all ages and excursion packages
Short introductory tour
An excellent introduction to the Memorial and to museum interpretation skills, "Checkpoints" is a 40-minute tour of selected highlights of the Memorial, led by an Education Assistant. The program can be adapted to suit your needs.
School wreathlaying ceremony
Participate in a small wreathlaying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings.
Teacher-guided tours
Take your own tour. You may like to use the free activity booklets and teachers' notes.
