Big things in store

Father's Day, Sunday 6 September
12.00 pm – 4.00 pm
Treloar Conservation and Storage Annex,
8 Callan Street, Mitchell ACT

Only open to the general public once or twice a year, this is a rare opportunity to get inside the Memorial's storage area of large technology items.

For the first time this year, visitors will be able to see the components of a Dingo Scout Car, before it undergoes conservation work. In the coming months, Memorial staff will piece the Dingo back together, so make the most of this chance to see it stripped down.

In May 2009, visitors were excited to get a rare glimpse inside the only Mk IV Female Tank in Australia, as the sponson had been removed for conservation and research. Due to its popularity, the interior of the Mk IV tank will be again be visible.

Look at our YouTube video of the conservators removing the sponson in 2008 at the bottom of this page.

The storage area holds relics that represent Australia’s involvement in conflict, including

Barbeque lunch and refreshments will be available to purchase on the day.

Closed, flat footwear is required for entry.

Please bring your camera, but no large bags, tripods, or monopods.

Entry is by gold coin donation.
