Closing ceremony
Thursday 5 November 2009 at 4:50 pm
At the end of each day the Memorial closes its doors and farewells visitors with a closing ceremony featuring either a Bugler playing the Last Post or a Piper playing a Lament. The daily ceremony is a very moving occasion; it engages visitors by offering them the opportunity to reflect and remember those Australians lost in war. The Memorial has held this important ceremony for many years. Previously, the performance of the Last Post and the Lament were delivered as sound recordings, however in the past few years, the Memorial has engaged independent professional musicians who are paid for each performance. This performance enhances the ceremony and the overall visitor experience.
