Will Longstaff: Art & Remembrance Exhibition
A world-first exhibition of the renowned Australian artist, Will Longstaff. His four-painting series of ghostly First World War paintings have never been seen in a single exhibition. On display in ANZAC Hall from 20 November 2001 to 10 February 2002
- Menin Gate at midnight [1927], painted after he had attended
the unveiling ceremony of the Menin Gate memorial at the entrance
of the Belgian town of Ypres on 24 July 1927.

Immortal shrine (Eternal silence) [1928], depicts ghostly soldiers marching past the Cenotaph in London on Remembrance Day 1928.

Ghosts of Vimy Ridge [1931], portrays the spirits of servicemen of the Canadian Corps. The memorial on Vimy Ridge stands dramatically on the summit beneath which the shimmering spirits of Canadian soldiers gather in the silvery moonlight.

Carillon [1932], shows the ghosts of New Zealand soldiers on the beaches of Belgium listening to carillon bells in their own country.
