Out in the cold - Australia's involvement in the Korean War
As
the first military action of the fledgling United Nations, the Korean
War was the initial full-blown expression of the Cold War. Out
in the cold: Australia's involvement in the Korean War is an exciting
travelling exhibition from the Australian War Memorial commemorating
the 50th anniversary
of the start of the war.
The exhibition draws on the experiences of the Australia men and women who endured the dusty heat, the frozen Siberian winds and the misery of a country at war with itself. It evokes the ancient culture of Korea as a backdrop to a fascinating collection of memories, film footage and relics. The Memorial is proud to present this exhibition which we hope will revive the public commemoration of a frequently forgotten war.
An online version has been developed to complement this exhibition and to make it more accessible to the community at large. The online version of Out in the Cold is generously funded by Visions Australia.
