Abstract

In part one of this two part article the author describes how older weapons saw a refinement during the First World War. The example used by this author in this article is the trench mortar. The article features the two types of mortars used by the Australians, namely the Garland and catapult battery. The author concludes by stating that the story of those who served in trench mortars have yet to be told.
