AFC
The Australian Flying Corps (AFC) was formed at Point Cook in Victoria in 1913. The AFC first saw service in the Middle East in 1915. During the First World War, its pilots supported the ground forces in all the major battles of the Palestine campaign against the Turks . In 1919, the AFC was disbanded and replaced by the Australian Air Corps, which in turn became the Royal Australian Air Force in 1921.
