Travelling Exhibition
This website was designed in conjunction with an Australian War Memorial Travelling Exhibition - "Out in the Cold - Australia's involvement in the Korean War". This exhibition was launched at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on April 14, 2000, where it will remain until June 18. The exhibition will then be travelling around the country, to a selection of Australian cities and regional centres throughout 2000 - 2002.
"Out in the Cold" shows, through objects, photos and personal stories, some aspects of the Korean war experience of over 17,000 Australian personnel, 339 of whom never returned.
Some of these include:
- Personal belongings of individuals, such as letters, photos, medals, clothing, and other keepsakes
- Examples of propaganda used by the UN and North Korean/Chinese forces
- Artworks by Australian Official War Artists, such as Ivor Hele
