Services and facilities
The centre provides a range of reference services, listed below:
- a reference desk service where professionally-trained staff are available to help researchers make full use of the collections, associated finding aids and equipment;
- copying and reproduction services for material from the photograph, film, art, and paper-based collections, on a commercial basis;
- a reading room with desks, carrels for private and audio-visual research, equipment for viewing microfilm and fiche, a reference book collection, and an area for browsing new books and serials;
- indices and finding aids to access the Research Centre's collections; these include online public access databases of private records and book collections, the core photograph, film and art collections, as well as access to the Memorial's Official Records collection through the National Archives of Australia database, RecordSearch;
- reference service that can accommodate queries by mail, telephone, fax and email;
- an inter-library loans service.
Please note that Research Centre staff are available to assist but do not undertake research on an individual's behalf. If you are unable to visit the Research Centre to do your own research, we can provide you with a list of individuals who undertake research on a commercial basis.
