1918: Advancing to Victory

1918 began badly. The terrible Passchendaele fighting had left the Australians exhausted and under strength but the will of a nation spurred them toward victory.

An exhibition featuring maps, photographs, art, medals plus an 18-pounder field gun and an exposed portion of a British Mark IV tank from the final days of the Great War.

International Conference 1918 Year of Victory

The Australian War Memorial is hosting an international history conference to mark the 90th anniversary of the end of the Great War. Outstanding First World War scholars from various nations will present their latest research findings and discuss issues surrounding the end of the Great War, its memory and enduring impact.
