Australia's Wartime Kitchen
A collection of recipes from the Australian War Memorial's Research Centre
The Australian War Memorial's collections include many recipes published in Australia during the Second World War. These recipes were intended to assist families to prepare nutritious and appetising dishes during a time when the economy was on a war footing and any form of waste was to be avoided.
They help tell the story of Australian life on the home front, and offer a glimpse of how families coped with the demands of total war by making the best of what was available.
