Australians in World War I: Australian Flying Corps
Department of Veterans' Affairs
This new DVA title looks at the history of the Australian Flying Corps, and is the latest in the series Australians in World War 1.
Australian airmen went from flying run-down obsolete aircraft in 1915 to piloting the deadliest machines of the war in 1918. They learnt how to fight in a new dimension and laid the groundwork for a separate airforce in which many AFC veterans served - the Royal Australian Air Force. All who flew with the AFC and the thousands who toiled to keep their aircraft flying were, in a very real sense, pioneers in warfare's newest arena. Soft cover, photographs, 140 pages.
