Mk IV 'Male' tank (First World War)

The "Male" version of the famous Mk IV tank was armed with 6-pounder guns in its twin sponsons, while the "Female" was armed with Lewis machine guns. A total of 1,220 Mk IVs were built: 595 "Females", 420 "Males" and 205 tenders used to carry supplies. These numbers made the Mk IV the most produced British tank of the War. It was first used in 1917 at the Battle of Messines Ridge and remained in service until the end of the War.
