The Skyhawk, a tough and versatile attack aircraft, was the last fixed-wing combat type to be operated by the Royal Australian Navy. They served with the Fleet Air Arm from 1967 until 1984. Twenty Skyhawks were purchased by Australia from the USA, and they were operated by two units. 805 Squadron RAN was based on the aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne, while 724 Squadron RAN flew from Nowra in NSW.

This accurate and highly detailed replica depicts Skyhawk N13-155051 of 805 Squadron RAN, flying from the Melbourne in 1977. This aircraft was lost in service, crashing near Braidwood in NSW on 23 January 1971 following engine failure. The pilot ejected safely.
