A soaring sponsorship opportunity!
A new permanent exhibition, Over the front: the Great War in the air, opened at the Australian War Memorial on 28 November 2008. The story of military flight and aerial combat during the First World War will be brought to life through a range of original and extraordinary aircraft and an exciting sound-and-light show. A time lapse video of the construction the new gallery can be seen on our youTube.com channel.
A key element of the new gallery is the major multi-media presentation produced by Academy Award winner Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings).
Little original film showing aircraft in action has survived from the First World War, so the Memorial commissioned this program featuring replica aircraft inflight, enhanced with the latest computer graphic techniques and based on documented activities and events. Shown on a large-scale curved screen to heighten the impact for visitors, the program will bring to life the experiences of the Australian Flying Corp over the Western Front in 1918.
The exhibition also features five rare aircraft: three Australian examples which include an SE5a fighter, Airco DH 9 bomber and Avro 504K trainer and two German aircraft the Pfalz DXII fighter and an Albatros D.Va fighter D5390/17.
Further exhibits are entirely from the Memorial’s collection, many of which have never before been seen or displayed; significant items include uniforms of prominent airmen, medals of outstanding heroes, badges and qualification awards, weapons, photographs, paintings, lucky charms, a balloon basket and a remarkable dummy observation tree.
Over the front offers an exciting opportunity for sponsors to be involved in an exhibition located as a permanent exhibition in ANZAC Hall where the memorial’s famous Lancaster bomber ‘G for George’ features in another dazzling multimedia display called Striking by night.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for a corporate entity to join with the unique Australian War Memorial brand and engage in partnership with an internationally recognised and respected cultural organisation. A range of sponsors rights and benefits are associated with this opportunity.
