BAE Systems sponsors Memorial's Theatre

The Australian War Memorial has announced a five-year sponsorship deal of the Memorial theatre with international defence dynamo BAE Systems Australia.

Director, Steve Gower, has welcomed BAE Systems Australia to the Memorial and deems the deal as appropriate, saying that BAE was an ‘integral part’ of the Memorial.

‘If you go back into history, you will see that BAE Systems lineage goes right back to the origins of aviation. A number of our key aircraft in both the First and second World Wars have BAE Systems origins’.

BAE also has a link to the new permanent exhibition Over the Front: the Great War in the Air which opened on 28 November 2008.  The de Havilland 9 aircraft featured in the exhibition was built by one of BAE’s legacy companies.

The sponsorship arrangement includes renaming of the Memorial’s theatre as BAE Systems Theatre for the duration of the agreement.

The theatre is within the Memorial building, adjacent to the West Courtyard, and is available for events, launches and other corporate functions.
