Terms and conditions of entry for the “Treasure Trail: Discover our unique collection” promotion:

  1. Information on prizes and how to enter form part of these conditions of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these conditions.
  2. The promoter is the Australian War Memorial, ABN 64 909 221 257, of Treloar Crescent, Campbell ACT 2612, telephone 02 6243 4211 (“ Promoter”).
  3. Entry is open to all Australian residents (“Eligible Entrants”). Management, employees, and volunteers of the Promoter, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.
  4. The promotion commences at 10:00 am AEDT 26 December 2005 and closes at 5:00 pm AEDT 29 January 2006 (“Promotion Period”).
  5. To enter and be eligible to win, Eligible Entrants must, during the Promotion Period:
    • visit the Australian War Memorial in Canberra where they will receive an entry form;
    • complete the entry form with their full name, street address, telephone number, reason for visiting the Memorial, and how they found about the promotion;
    • answer five simple questions about displays in the Memorial (“Entry Questions”);
    • place their completed entry form in the entry box at the Australian War Memorial.
  6. Eligible Entrants may enter the competition as many times as they like, but each entry must be on a separate entry form. Only one entry form will be given to each Eligible Entrant on each visit to the Memorial.
  7. The winning entry will be drawn by random selection from the entry box, which will contain all competition entries. The first complete, correct entry drawn will win. Incomplete, ineligible or incorrect entries are not eligible to win.
  8. The Promoter reserves the right to validate and check entries for authenticity and disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process.
  9. The results of the draw are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  10. The draw will be held at the Australian War Memorial administration building, Treloar Crescent, Campbell ACT 2612, at 11:00 am AEDT on 30 January 2006.
  11. The winner will be notified by phone and mail and the winner’s name, suburb/town, and state will also be published in The Australian newspaper on 4 February 2006.
  12. The Prize is a trip for two people travelling to Gallipoli with Boronia Travel, for travel between 14 and 29 April 2006, and includes:
    • Return economy airfares from any Australian capital city
    • 14 nights twin-share accommodation in Turkey, including 6 nights on the Gallipoli Peninsula
    • All applicable departure and security taxes
    • Breakfast and lunch daily, and most dinners, as per the tour itinerary
    • Entry fees as per the tour itinerary
    • Ground transport in air-conditioned coaches
    • Services of an Australian War Memorial expert guide
    • Services of an English-speaking tour leader

    The complete tour itinerary is available online at www.awm.gov.au/services/battletour/itinerary_gallipoli.asp. Total maximum prize value is AUD $12,626 including GST. All other ancillary costs, including passports, international travel insurance, Turkish visa fees, gratuities to local tour leaders and coach drivers, and personal expenses, are the responsibility of the winner.

  13. If the winner is under the age of 18 years, the Prize will be awarded to the winner’s nominated parent or guardian.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity, age and proof of residency as a condition of receipt of the prize. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter.
  15. The Prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if the winner is unable to use the Prize as stated. If the winner can not travel at the applicable period, the Prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu. The prize is not transferable to another person, or exchangeable for other goods and services, and can not be taken as cash.
  16. The winner and travelling companion will be bound by the Australian War Memorial Battlefield Tours specific terms and conditions of travel. These are available online at www.awm.gov.au/services/battletour/tours_booking_form_2006.pdf. These terms and conditions require the winner and companion traveller to take out travel insurance at their own expense.
  17. The winner and travelling companion may upgrade their travel class using cash, but not frequent flyer points. The winner and travelling companion will not accrue frequent flyer points on the prize flights.
  18. The Promoter is not liable for the cancellation of all or any part of the Prize for any reason. In the event that the prize is not available, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize with one of equal or greater value, subject to State/Territory legislative requirements.
  19. If there are any taxes or levies to be paid in respect of the Prize, the payment of such taxes and/or levies shall be the responsibility of, and be borne by, the winner.
  20. The Promoter will not be liable for any injury, loss or damage of any nature whatsoever, including indirect or consequential loss, or for personal injury or death, suffered or sustained, as a result of or in connection with receiving or taking the Prize.
  21. The Promoter reserves the right to redraw in the event of an entrant being unable to satisfy these Terms and Conditions or forfeiting or not claiming the Prize.
    1. In the event that the winner (other than a South Australian winner) has not claimed the prize by 5:00 pm AEDT 27 February 2006, a second chance draw will be held on 28 February 2006 at 11:00 am AEDT at the same place as the original draw. In the event of a winner in the unclaimed prize draw, they will be notified by phone and mail and their name, suburb/town, and state will be published in The Australian on 4 March 2006.
    2. In the event of a South Australian winner the Promoter may conduct a second chance draw at the same place as the original draw on 15 May 2006 in order to distribute the prize if unclaimed by that date, subject however to any written directions given under Reg 37 of the Lottery and Gaming Regulations 1993 (SA). In the event that the prize is not available, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize with one of equal or greater value, subject to State/Territory legislative requirements. In the event of a winner in the unclaimed prize draw, they will be notified by mail and phone and their name, suburb/town, and state will be published in The Australian on 20 May 2006.
  22. All entries become the property of the Promoter. The Promoter is entitled to use any of the entries for any purposes at its discretion, including (but not limited to) future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.
  23. Notwithstanding this, the personal information which will be collected by the Promoter from the entries is collected for the purpose of enabling the Promoter to conduct this Promotion, and to publish the results of the Promotion. Entrants’ personal information may be disclosed to State and Territory lottery departments and winners’ names published as required under the relevant lottery legislation.
  24. If so required, the winner of the Prize agrees to the use of their name and photograph for promotional purposes.
  25. Eligible Entrants’ personal details will not be used for any other purpose, nor disclosed to third parties, without their consent.
