The nose of a Meteor jet fighter used in the Korean war was the first large object to take its place in the new galleries.

The Gloster Meteor Mk 8 Jet Fighter was attached to 77 Squadron RAAF in Korea from July 1951 to August 1953. During this time it flew a total of 485 operational missions.

On 3 November 1951, while piloted by Sergeant M E Colebrook DFM USAM, it was credited with damaging a MiG in combat.
