2/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Sydney
Description
A gun of the 2/3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in position on the shores of Sydney Harbour. Richard Ashton, an artist with the Military History Section, painted a number of works related to Australia's defences during the Second World War. This work depicts anti aircraft guns in place at Middle Head overlooking Sydney Harbour. The presence of anti aircraft guns, fortifications, and camouflage changed the landscape of Sydney Harbour and brought the reality of war closer to home.
