This battle honour was awarded for participation in the defence of the Alamein Line, the broadly staked-out defensive position between the railway siding of El Alamein, on the coast, and the Qattara Depression, 65 kilometres to the south. The battle honour includes the actions at Tel el Eisa, Ruweisat Ridge, Sanyet et Miteirya, and Qattara Track.
