Changes to our website: a new search
In December 2013 we will be adding a new search facility to our website.
The new search will allow you to search all the information on our website from one search box; for example, you will be able to type a name or a topic into the search box and see all the information we have which is related to that name or topic.
Once the new search is live, it will be available from the search box on the top right hand corner of every page and also through the “Collection” tab in the main menu on the site.
The image below gives you a sense of what the new search screen will look like; please note that this image shows a prototype for the new page, and the final version may not look exactly the same.

Some existing searches will remain for a little longer:
The existing searches for people in sources like the Roll of Honour, the Embarkation Roll, Nominal Roll, Honours and Awards etc. will still be available through the “People” tab in the main menu on the site. This option will be available for some time, but you will also be able to do similar searches in the new single search.
It is expected that the following searches will remain on the website until at least the New Year.
- Pre WW1 Conflicts Nominal Rolls
- WW1 Embarkation Rolls
- Roll of Honour
- Commemorative Roll
- WW1 Red Cross files
- WW2 POWs
- Honours and awards
This new search is part of the first stage of the ANZAC Connections project which will continue during 2014 and 2015. The new search is likely to have some teething problems, and your feedback will help us make sure that problems are fixed.
In later stages of the project, we will be making more digitised records available, as well as enabling people to tag and comment on collection material, and to transcribe original diaries and letters.
