Description

The arrival of the 2nd AIF in England. A large group of Australian soldiers waiting on a wharf and listening to a band playing. These troops were transported to England aboard the converted liner Queen Mary, which was too large to tie up to the docks at Gourock. Instead, Queen Mary anchored off shore in the Clyde Estuary and the Australian troops were brought to shore in smaller vessels, one of which, a ferry named Queen Mary II, is visible background right.
