The operating theatre installed on the hospital ship Manunda. The Adelaide Steamship Company's vessel had been requisitioned in May 1940 and converted from interstate liner to a hospital ship with modern equipment used throughout so that sick and wounded Australian soldiers would derive every benefit that surgical science had to offer. The ship then served as 2/1st Australian Hospital ship Manunda.
