Fort Khiam, Syria. Australian troops of 7th Division 2nd AIF moving across the courtyard of Fort Khiam during its capture from the Vichy French, ready to mop up enemy troops remaining in shelters. The soldiers in the foreground are from the 2/2nd Pioneer Battalion, the soldier with the bren gun is identified as VX21111 Private Donald Herbert Dickson later taken Prisoner of War (POW) and worked on the Burma/Thailand Railway, the soldier in the centre is VX13098 Private (Pte) Garry Hooper and on the right is Pte Whittaker.
