Women's Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) is taking part in the Navy's vital job of defending the seas. These telegraphist WRANS operate at Harman Naval Station, near Canberra. WR/18 Telegraphist Florence Joan Senior hangs out her washing at the back of the cottage she shares with three other WRANS. Telegraphist Senior from Sydney, NSW, joined up as a 20 year old and served from 2 June 1941 until 11 December 1945.
