Description
Supply problems and other natural handicaps make the transport of bulky materials difficult in the jungle, so troops in forward areas find plenty of scope for ingenuity in many directions. The food problem offers opportunity for experiment, producing interesting results. These Australian troops are baking, over and open fire, 'austerity cakes' made of flour, egg pulp, tinned milk, raisins and sugar (Original Department of Information caption). Seated at the back, far right is WX8037 Thomas Cleaver Weekley of Northampton, WA.
