1943-01-26. PAPUA. NEARING THE END OF THE PAPUAN CAMPAIGN AGAINST JAPAN. TROOPER FRED BEALE OF BRISBANE SHOWS HIS METAL SHAVING MIRROR WHICH PREVENTED HIS BEING A CASUALTY. BEALE WAS CARRYING THE MIRROR WHICH A SNIPER BULLET PIERCED. THE MIRROR DEFLECTED THE BULLET AND BEALE ESCAPED UNHURT. (NEGATIVE BY BOTTOMLEY).
