Lieutenant K. V. Anderson, Royal Australian Naval Volunteer Reserve, descending the gangway of USS General S. D. Sturgis to join HMAS Shropshire. He had just been preceded by Rear Admiral G. D. Moore, RAN, and Commodore J. A. Collins, RAN. They had travelled in General S. D. Sturgis to take part in the Japanese Surrender Ceremony.
